Remembering Cody Hannah:
A Courageous Advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights and Housing Justice
Cody Hannah was a passionate activist, a dedicated public servant, and a fearless voice for marginalized communities in Arizona. As a young, working-class LGBTQ+ student and advocate, he fought tirelessly for economic, environmental, and social justice—especially for those impacted by the housing crisis and systemic inequality.
Living openly with HIV, Cody understood the intersection of healthcare, housing insecurity, and discrimination. He spoke boldly about the need for affordable housing, tenant protections, and policies that put people over profits. His vision included public housing investments, community land trusts, and stronger safeguards against evictions and gentrification.

A co-founder of the Arizona Green Party’s Youth Caucus and a two-time candidate for office, Cody believed in grassroots democracy. His campaign for the Arizona State House centered on climate action, workers’ rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and universal access to healthcare, housing, and education.
Beyond activism, Cody found joy in music, gardening, and time with loved ones—especially his pug, Tallulah. Though his journey was cut short, his legacy lives on in the fight for a more just and equitable Arizona.
Rest in power, Cody. Your courage and compassion continue to inspire.
